Mary McGrath and Joe Guthrie - Get Your Locks Off

Get Your Locks Off is more than the traditional short back and sides barbershop (although we do the best of those a barbershop has to offer). The concept of our barbershop is to offer men the same creativity and styling that women are offered when they are having their hair done. Established in 2008 by Mary McGrath and Joe Guthrie, who together form a powerful team who both bring a level of barbering to Clonmel town that is second to none. Get Your Locks Off barbershop were finalists in the Irish hair and beauty awards 2017, 2018 & 2019 and Joe was nominated and awarded highly commended barber award 2018.

A visit to Get Your Locks Off is unique and entertaining, with surround sound digital radio and satellite TV, Get Your Locks Off entertains as you get your hair cut. From its earliest beginnings, Get Your Locks Off has always been about styling, creativity, fun and quality, all to the backdrop of a visually unique forward-thinking barber shop who are on top of all the newest trends.

With two children each and over 30 years of barbering experience between them, Mary and Joe are both well known for their speed and charm while cutting kids hair.

Their fantastic ability to distract children of all ages while having their hair cut has been the subject of many positive online reviews. We work with a lot of kids with autism in the shop and understand both their needs and their parents’ needs while they have their hair cut with us. In 2014 we went one step further and opened a brightly decorated designated kids room in the shop called Kiddie Locks. Your child will be made to feel at ease as soon as they enter by being invited to play with the toys and games which we have available.

If you are one of our older kids you will be invited to play tablets with the latest games or with our Nintendo DS gameing devices while you have your haircut or wait. For our very young clients, we have cartoons to watch on tv and musical toys to play with while our barbers attend to the haircut while sitting in a race car chair. All of this is guaranteed to cut out any tears and keep those happy faces smiling and the icing on the cake is that we have a lolipop or a “well done” stamp for each child who comes through the door.
